Mitie is seeking a motivated and technically capable Laboratory Support Technician to join our pharmaceutical laboratory support team for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on HPLC experience, a strong understanding of Gx P regulated environments, and a passion for delivering high-quality laboratory operations.

You'll work alongside scientists and laboratory teams, ensuring critical laboratory activities run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and data integrity.

You'll play a key role in enabling laboratory testing, product release activities, and scientific research by supporting analytical laboratories with:

  • HPLC instrument support and return-to-service checks
  • Laboratory instrument PQ testing
  • Mobile phase, reagent and eluent preparation
  • Sample management and laboratory logistics
  • Laboratory stock and consumable management
  • Calibration programme support
  • Laboratory compliance activities
  • Waste management and housekeeping activities

  • What You’ll Be Doing HPLC & Laboratory Instrument Support
  • Support analytical laboratories operating HPLC systems
  • Perform annual return-to-service checks on HPLCs
  • Complete routine Performance Qualification (PQ) testing
  • Support calibration and maintenance schedules
  • Monitor laboratory equipment performance and documentation requirements
  • Gx P Compliance & Data Integrity
  • Work within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment
  • Complete documentation in accordance with Gx P requirements
  • Support ALCOA+ data integrity standards
  • Ensure laboratory records are accurate, complete and inspection-ready
  • Maintain compliance with laboratory procedures and regulatory expectations
  • Laboratory Operations
  • Prepare mobile phases, reagents and eluents to support laboratory testing schedules
  • Support sample booking, archiving and keeping sample activities
  • Manage laboratory stocks, chemicals, solvents and consumables
  • Coordinate laboratory waste disposal activities
  • Support calibration laboratory programmes and scheduling activities
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes
  • Challenge existing practices and contribute new ideas
  • Work collaboratively with scientists, engineers and support teams
  • Support a culture of safety, compliance and operational excellence
  • What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Experience working with HPLC systems
  • Experience working within a Gx P-regulated pharmaceutical or laboratory environment
  • Strong understanding of laboratory compliance and documentation practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
  • A proactive and customer-focused approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

  • HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
  • Experience of laboratory instrument qualification activities
  • Experience supporting calibration programmes
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical laboratory operations
  • Experience with data integrity requirements and ALCOA+ principles
