We are recruiting a Hindu Prison Chaplain for HMP Millsike, part of the Mitie Care violence reduction; equalities meetings; Good Order and Discipline reviews; and Segregation Monitoring and Review Group meetings. Contribute to resettlement initiatives, engaging faith/belief communities and coordinating with outside agencies. Participate in the establishment's standards, budget, and People Plan, and help implement local and national Chaplaincy policies. Ensure health and safety compliance and support actions from audits and reports. Provide additional support as directed by the Managing Chaplain.

Qualifications

  • Committed and practising Hindu with a competent understanding of Hindu teaching and practice.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Hindu philosophy and rituals.
  • Relevant practical experience and endorsement from the HMPPS Hindu Faith and Belief Adviser (evidence required before appointment).
  • Ability to pass EL2 security checks, including CTC.
  • Good communicator with well‑developed influencing skills; innovative and forward‑thinking.
  • Professionalism and competence in pastoral care, faith and belief, especially during crisis events.
  • Working knowledge of other faiths and beliefs represented within a prison.
  • Dynamic team player capable of rapidly adapting to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • Meeting the HMPPS Chaplaincy and Faith Services specified minimum faith eligibility requirements for Hindu tradition.

Salary: £3,650. Hours: 4 hours.
