Fire Alarm Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Alarm Engineer to join our growing team.
This is a varied role involving the servicing, maintenance, commissioning, and installation of fire alarm and emergency lighting systems across a diverse customer base.
The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent fault-finding abilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
While this is currently a national role requiring occasional travel throughout the UK, our longer-term goal is to regionalise coverage where possible.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to
- Service, maintain, commission, and repair fire alarm and emergency lighting systems across multiple customer sites.
- Carry out fire alarm installations to a high professional standard.
- Commission fire alarm systems, primarily open protocol systems including Advanced, Kentec, and C-TEC.
- Plan and undertake both scheduled maintenance visits and reactive call-outs within your designated area.
- Interpret technical drawings, wiring schematics, and system documentation.
- Diagnose and resolve system faults efficiently and effectively.
- Lead and deliver small to medium-sized installation projects, providing technical guidance and support to installation teams where required.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations, including:
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professional relationships with clients.
- Support colleagues with technical expertise and contribute to the ongoing training and development of the wider engineering team.
- Work safely and effectively in a role that may involve physical demands.
- Travel throughout the UK when required to support customer and business needs.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures and industry best practice.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience servicing, maintaining, commissioning, and installing fire alarm systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good understanding of electrical principles and wiring systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system documentation.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Relevant certificates of competency.
- Willingness to travel and occasionally work away from home when required.
Desirable Qualifications
- FIA Units 1–5 or equivalent industry-recognised qualifications.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- Previous electrical experience or qualifications.
