Job Overview

We are looking for a professional, confident, and customer-focused Security Officer who is committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our client, colleagues, and visitors.

In this role, you will

  • Protect the customer's people, property, and assets by delivering security services in accordance with the site's Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent updates.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), taking ownership of your responsibilities and contributing to the long-term success of the contract.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a proactive approach to customer service.
  • Embrace ongoing learning opportunities to support personal and professional development.

Main Duties Operations

  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures, legal requirements and regulatory standards, as directed by the Security Account Manager and in line with UK legislation.
  • Complete all site-specific tasks and responsibilities to the highest standard, as outlined within the Assignment Instructions (AI's).
  • Regularly review Assignment Instructions, keeping up to date with any changes and proactively suggesting improvements to enhance service delivery.
  • Maintain compliance with all industry and statutory licensing requirements, including holding a valid front-line SIA licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision.

A CCTV (PSS) SIA Licence is also required by the client, along with any additional contract-specific training.

  • Follow all health, safety and legal obligations associated with the role.
  • Carry out duties responsibly, professionally and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Training & Development
  • Successfully complete all mandatory training and competency assessments.
  • Participate in additional development opportunities as identified by the Security Account Manager.
  • Use technology effectively to support operational objectives and enhance professional knowledge.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining all required licences and qualifications, ensuring SIA licence renewals are submitted at least 16 weeks before expiry.
  • Actively engage in continuous professional development to remain informed of industry best practice and emerging trends.
  • Security, Safety & Customer Service
  • Remain vigilant and promptly report any health and safety concerns, hazards or risks identified on site.
  • Monitor the site environment for security threats, suspicious activity or changes that could impact safety, security or business operations.
  • Use initiative, sound judgement and effective communication skills to manage situations appropriately and seek support when required.
  • Maintain a calm, professional and courteous approach when dealing with challenging situations or difficult customers.
  • Complete accurate, detailed and timely records following any incident, ensuring information can be used to support investigations and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality and commitment to both Mitie and the client.
  • Ensure all scheduled check calls are completed within the required timeframes in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
  • Contact Emergency Services and the Communication Centre promptly when incidents occur and ensure all reporting procedures are followed.
  • Deliver a visible and reassuring security presence while promoting a positive customer experience.

  • A valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision).
  • A CCTV (PSS) SIA Licence (required for this contract).

  • A proactive and customer-focused approach.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
