Evening Gatehouse Security Officer in Ferrybridge

Mitie is looking for a professional, reliable, and team-focused Security Officer to join our security team on a temporary basis during a busy peak operational period at a logistics site in Knottingley. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, building strong working relationships, and contributing as part of a collaborative team. You will play an important role in maintaining site security while working closely with gatehouse colleagues, operational teams, and the on-site Loss Prevention team to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people, vehicles, and goods.

The Role

As an Evening Gatehouse Security Officer, you will be responsible for helping to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment while supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy logistics gatehouse.

A key part of this role involves working closely with the site's Loss Prevention team to verify bookings, authorise access requests, and ensure security processes are followed consistently.

Key responsibilities include:

• -Managing vehicle, visitor, and contractor access to and from the site
• -Signing drivers in and out and maintaining accurate records
• -Working closely with the on-site Loss Prevention team to verify bookings and approve site access
• -Maintaining regular communication with Loss Prevention and operational teams to support the smooth flow of site activity
• -Monitoring vehicle and visitor movements in accordance with site procedures
• -Using computer systems to process bookings, access requests, and site records
• -Identifying and reporting security concerns, incidents, and potential risks
• -Supporting colleagues and contributing positively to a team-focused working environment
• -Protecting people, property, and company assets
• -Following Assignment Instructions and company policies
• -Completing incident reports accurately and professionally
• -Providing a courteous and professional service to drivers, visitors, contractors, and site personnel

Valid SIA licence

• -Minimum of five years' continuous UK residency for vetting purposes
• -Excellent communication and customer service skills
• -Good IT and computer literacy
• -Strong observation and problem-solving abilities
• -Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• -Professional, reliable, and flexible approach

Desirable

• -Previous security experience
• -Previous gatehouse, logistics, or access control experience
• -Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment

Monday to Friday

• -15:30 - 23:30
• -40 hours per week
• -£12.84 per hour
• -Overtime opportunities may be available
