The predicted salary is between 45000 - 55000 £ per year.

Act as the central electrical technical interface between design, construction, CDM, procurement, commissioning, and external stakeholders. Initially operate with direct local control of electrical delivery, surveys, reviews, and site support, with responsibility for commissioning, and developing the electrical delivery team. The role expands into a formal ETDM function, providing consistent technical governance across multiple projects and workstreams.

Main Duties

  • Electrical Surveys & Point of Connection: Provide technical oversight and support for electrical and grid surveys. Review and validate point of connection assessments. Identify electrical constraints including capacity, earthing, protection, and access. Ensure survey outputs are suitable for DNO/IDNO submission and detailed design.
  • Site & Project Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical support to Project Managers and Construction teams. Respond to site RFIs and resolve installation or design issues. Support commissioning, energisation, and fault resolution activities. Act as electrical escalation point during delivery. Commissioning, overseeing, managing of electrical systems and witness testing.
  • Design to Construction Review & Assurance: Own the design-to-construction review process across all projects. Ensure designs comply with BS 7671, ENA and DNO standards, Employer's Requirements, and Manufacturer specifications. Review design changes and manage technical deviations. Verify buildability and safe integration of electrical designs.
  • Contractor Assessment, Vetting & Improvement: Assess and technically approve electrical contractors and specialists. Review method statements, ITPs, and competencies. Support supply-chain improvement and standardisation. Monitor contractor electrical performance and compliance.
  • Materials, Equipment & Long‑Lead Items: Review and approve electrical materials lists and equipment schedules. Ensure compatibility of cables, switchgear, transformers, inverters, and protection systems. Identify long‑lead items and support technical input into procurement. Support FATs and technical inspections where required.
  • NICEIC & Qualifying Supervisor Responsibility: Hold overall accountability for NICEIC scheme compliance. Act as, or oversee, the Electrical Qualifying Supervisor (QS) function. Ensure all electrical works are designed, installed, inspected, and tested to BS 7671. Correctly certified (EICs, EICRs, commissioning documentation). Act as main technical contact for NICEIC audits and assessments. Manage electrical non‑conformances and corrective actions. Ensure ongoing competence and training of electrical personnel.
  • Training & Organisational Capability: Train and educate non‑electrical stakeholders on electrical risk and compliance. Mentor electrical engineers and supervisors. Develop electrical standards, guidance notes, and lessons learned. Drive continuous improvement across electrical delivery.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in electrical delivery within renewables or power infrastructure.
  • In‑depth knowledge of BS 7671 and NICEIC requirements.
  • Experience with grid‑connected systems and DNO processes.
  • Ability to review and assure electrical designs and installations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision‑making capability.
  • Latest amendment of the wiring regulations.
  • NVQ level 3 in electrical installations (QCF level 3 or equivalent).
  • NVQ level 3 in electrical testing and inspection (2391‑52).

Desirable

  • HV/LV experience across solar PV and BESS.
  • Experience acting as or managing an Electrical QS.
  • Knowledge of CDM design risk management.
  • Experience with FATs, commissioning, and energisation.
  • Solar/EESS/EV qualifications as per EAS requirements.
