We are looking for a CAD Technician to join our Hard Services Estates team within a large acute hospital environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical drawing skills who wants to work in a complex, highly regulated healthcare estate, supporting the safe and effective management of critical hospital infrastructure.

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the CAD Technician will play an important role in maintaining accurate estates information, ensuring drawings, room data sheets and asset/component schedules are kept up to date and aligned with site changes, compliance requirements and operational needs. The hospital operates within a PFI environment, so accuracy, governance and attention to detail are essential. The role will support the Estates and Compliance teams by ensuring that technical information is reliable, accessible and suitable for use by operational teams, Authorised Persons, project teams, subcontractors and key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and updating CAD drawings across the hospital estate.
  • Ensuring drawings reflect changes from projects, lifecycle works, minor works and operational alterations.
  • Supporting the production and update of room data sheets, asset information and component schedules.
  • Working with the Compliance Manager to ensure estates records support statutory, mandatory and contractual compliance.
  • Liaising with Estates Managers, engineers, project teams and subcontractors to obtain accurate information.
  • Supporting the wider Hard Services team with technical information required for audits, inspections and assurance reviews.
  • Helping to maintain accurate records for critical systems and building areas within an acute hospital environment.
  • Ensuring drawing and document control processes are followed and information is stored correctly.
  • Supporting improvement of estates data quality, including links between CAD information, asset registers and CAFM records where required.
About you:
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Experience maintaining technical drawings, layouts, schedules or building information.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to manage information accurately.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to work with operational teams, engineers, managers and subcontractors.
  • Good communication skills and a practical, problem‑solving approach.
  • An understanding of building services, estates, facilities management or construction environments.
  • Experience in healthcare, PFI, public sector, compliance‑led or highly regulated environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Why join us? This is a varied and important role within a busy acute hospital estate, where accurate technical information directly supports safe patient care, compliance, maintenance planning and project delivery. You will be joining a dedicated Hard Services team responsible for maintaining a complex healthcare environment, including critical engineering infrastructure, clinical areas, public spaces and support facilities. This role would suit a CAD Technician who enjoys detail, structure and working as part of a wider technical estates team, with the opportunity to develop knowledge of healthcare engineering, compliance and facilities management in a live hospital setting.
