Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Building Maintenance Engineer to joint our growing engineering family. Our Multi Skilled Technicians provide delivery of facilities support services across our client sites. The role will be responsible for carrying out a range of general maintenance and business support tasks. They will report to the Regional FM and assist the site team as required in the delivery of reactive, planned and ad hoc maintenance tasks. Suitable training and up-skilling may be given, as and when required, to achieve competency and the ability to perform the following (as detailed in responsibilities). Working hours – Although the core working hours are 08:00 to 17:00, there may be a certain degree of flexibility depending on individual circumstances.
Main Duties
- Undertake maintenance and reactive activity, to a wide range of Mechanical Building Services equipment such as heating boilers, pumps, compressed air systems, sanitary ware, fan coil and air handling units and BMS systems and other equipment found in modern commercial/industrial premises.
- Undertake within your levels of competency inspection and reactive activity to a wide range of Electrical Building Services equipment including but not limited to general lighting, building controls, small power and distribution, BMS systems and other equipment found in modern commercial/industrial premises.
- Be an essential part of the local team who will ensure the safe operation and repair of all M&E building services and fabric equipment on the site.
- Take part in a rota to provide a reactive maintenance service outside operating hours of the site.
- To work within a shift system to provide a core presence at client sites within an extended weekday period.
- To undertake weekend/out of hours working to complete intrusive maintenance activities that cannot be undertaken in client operating hours.
- Working in line with the Permit to Work System.
- To implement systems that will ensure plant is maintained and operated to its optimum efficiency.
- Participate in departmental energy saving schemes and promote the understanding and importance of the economic use of energy.
- Take part in Appraisals/Performance Reviews including the recognition of training and development needs.
- Monitor site performance of sub-contractors and report poor performance.
- Use of IT systems (Handheld device) as part of the CAFM system.
- Work in line with issued Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Take on an AP role in a relative field for Permit To Work.
Health & Safety
- Follow Group and company policies and procedures, at all times.
- Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery, or risk to health and safety, or the environment.
- Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
- Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and/or via your divisional incident reporting system.
- Take personal responsibility for Health & Safety matters.
What we are looking for

- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a building environment.
- Have a proactive approach to maintenance and building management and be willing to undertake Fabric works/other duties to assist the Team.
- Confident, driven and pro-active.
- Able to do the job right and do it right first time, within a pre-determined timescale.
- Willingness to undertake further training.
- Ability to provide a schedule of works for identified additional/remedial works.
- Writing and following risk and method statements as required on a daily basis.
- Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner.
- Good knowledge of building Statutory Compliance.
- Must hold a full UK driver\’s license.
- Ability to record work accurately on work sheets and computer based systems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
- Experience of working within a customer focused environment.
- Wanting to achieve success, for his or her self, the business and the customer.
- Flexible approach to work and working hours (subject to the EU Working Time Directive).
- Presented in a clean and tidy manner to represent the company, in the most professional manner possible, utilising the uniform and PPE issued.
- Responsible for self and others to maintain a safe working environment as per the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequent UK and EU amendments.
- HSE management in accordance with our Quality Management System and all legal and statutory requirements.
