We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and motivated individual with excellent communication skills. This post is working within the Estates department. The Maintenance Engineer will be employed on work that is appropriate to their core and specialist skills. They will, however, be expected to have and acquire elements of other skills which will enable them to work flexibly across trades.

General Repairs perform minor repairs on various structures and systems, general building fabric and carpentry tasks. Conduct routine maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and facilities. Install fixtures, appliances, and other items as needed, such as shelves, light fixtures, and plumbing fixtures. Identify and resolve issues with household or commercial systems and structures. Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment and prevent accidents. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide satisfactory solutions.

Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered. Work efficiently to complete tasks in a timely manner while maintaining high-quality standards. Adapt to a variety of tasks and challenges, demonstrating a broad skill set.

Main Duties
  • Fully comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Take responsibility for personal health and safety at work, ensuring the working area is free from hazards.
  • Provide both reactive and proactive maintenance services across operational equipment.
  • Deliver maintenance support, covering building fabric and carpentry tasks inclusive of Fire Door minor repairs, maintenance and PPMs.
  • Execute modifications and installations as required.
  • Carry out building and fabric maintenance and minor project works, including snagging tasks.
  • Conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proficiency in PC operations, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with CAFM (Computer-Aided Facility Management) systems.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in a trade or equivalent relevant experience in building maintenance and carpentry.
  • Experience of working with Fire Doors is preferred; relevant qualifications are preferred but a couple of relevant courses will be made available to the successful applicant.
  • Experience of site joinery will be advantageous, including all types of door furniture, closers, floor springs, plaster boarding, partition walls, suspended ceilings, MF ceilings, access panels and general carpentry duties.
  • Experience in providing maintenance services across building fabric discipline.
  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks effectively or utilise appropriate tools and equipment as required.
  • Good experience of working in a healthcare environment is preferred.
