Are you a Nurse or Paramedic looking for a new direction but not ready to take the leap from your current role? Look at our bank opportunities. You will be working alongside the Police in custody suites caring for detainees, helping some of the most vulnerable people in society.
We require Registered (Adult) Nurses / RGNs, or Paramedics with 2 years' post qualification experience, who want to deliver gold standard care and be a proud part of a team with a real passion for developing clinical, forensic and wider skills. You must have the flexibility to work not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.
What can you expect to earn?
- £20.50 per hour for 1-2 shifts
- £22.50 per hour for 3-5 shifts
- £24.50 per hour for 6+ shifts
Experience - Essential:
- RN, RGN or (RMN with dual registration): 2 years post qualification - Band 5 minimum
- Paramedic: 2 years post qualification
- Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a patient-facing role within a relevant field: General Practice, A & E, Emergency Medicine, acute medicine, Walk in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare or Ambulance Service
Licence/Certification:
- HCPC/NMC (required)
- Driving Licence (required)
- Must be a UK resident for 3 years + no gaps out of country more than 3 months
All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting.
What does the role involve?
The custody suites can be an energetic place to work, with no two shifts the same. Whilst detained, we provide individuals with all their physical, mental healthcare and wellbeing needs, as well as gather any forensic samples needed by the police to aid their investigations. Making careful records on our computerised systems, you will be assessing whether people are fit to be detained or released, administering medications when needed, and working with local Liaison and Diversion teams to address root cause issues that can prevent future crime. No previous forensic experience required; we will provide all your training.
