Overview

Join the criminal justice system as a nurse or paramedic, providing healthcare to detainees. Experience in acute care or prison healthcare is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver medical care to detainees in custody suites in collaboration with the police.
  • Provide 24‑hour coverage on a fixed rota pattern of 4 shifts on and 4 days off, including day and night shifts.
  • Work in your base custody suite and across the assigned police custody region.
  • Support the safety and wellbeing of detainees while maintaining professional standards.

Benefits

  • Monthly bonus of £1,000 upon completion of 12 months service.
  • Estimated overtime potential £3,500 per annum.
  • Full‑time shift pattern: 06:45 to 19:00 for day shifts, 18:45 to 07:00 for night shifts, with a rolling rota available 2 years in advance.
  • NMC/HCPC registration paid.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse (RN, RGN or RMN with dual registration) or paramedic, with at least 2 years post‑qualification experience in a patient‑facing role (e.g., A&E, general practice, acute medicine, prison healthcare, ambulance service).
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK; British passport or ILR for 3 years with no absences abroad exceeding 3 months.
  • All candidates will undergo Police vetting.
  • Must be able to work full shifts, including night shifts.
