Due to continued expansion and increased long‑term workload, Mitie Environmental Services Ltd are seeking to recruit an experienced Asbestos Removal Operative to undertake a wide variety of projects across the United Kingdom and integrate with the team.

Mitie Environmental Services Ltd have an exciting new opportunity for a competent Asbestos Operative to join our asbestos removal team.

Responsibilities

  • The role involves the undertaking of licensed and non‑licensed asbestos removal projects throughout the UK, ensuring exemplary standards of compliance and efficiency.
  • Have the ability to work away and out of hours where workload dictates.
  • Be willing to learn and retain a good understanding of current asbestos legislation, statutory regulations and relevant QSHE requirements.
  • Ensure a clear understanding of the current Control of Asbestos Regulations and all aspects of asbestos removal and remediation.
  • Hold a current Asbestos Removal Operative Certificate.
  • Hold a verified and appropriate face‑fit test and be on a 2‑yearly medical surveillance.
  • Possess the ability to learn and be able to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Be a good communicator and ensure work meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and passport. Preferably a towing licence.
  • Undertake and gain a verified and appropriate First Aid Certificate.
  • Be willing to participate and gain a trade‑specific CSCS card whilst working towards a trade‑specific NVQ.
  • Ensuring all works are always carried out to the highest standard of workmanship preventing and reducing the spread and/or exposure of asbestos.
  • Always complying with company methodology, risk assessments, policies, and procedures to ensure the health, safety, welfare, and security of all.
  • Ability to construct robust and compliant enclosures to enable the undertaking of licensed asbestos removal projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with all current asbestos and health and safety legislative requirements.
  • Professionally liaising with clients, contractors, and residents at all times.
  • Understanding and signing all relevant paperwork to ensure all legislative, licensable requirements are met to the highest standards.
  • Carrying out daily record keeping including a company timesheet, respirator check sheet and health records for yourself, site teams and for agency staff under your responsibility on site.

Person Specification

  • Asbestos Operative experience (Minimum 24 months).
  • Asbestos Medical.
  • Asbestos Face‑Fit Certificates.
  • A sound knowledge of the health & safety procedures pertaining to asbestos.
  • Full clean UK driving Licence.
  • Willing to travel and work out of hours anywhere in the UK – essential to the business.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to create and promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate and engage at all levels.
  • Personable demeanour.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow group and company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
  • Report any issues or training needs to your line manager and/or via your divisional incident reporting system.

Information Security

  • Ensure compliance with Mitie\'s information security procedures in all activities.
  • Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager.
  • Report actual and suspected security incidents.
