Rock Power Connections is a Mitie Company and is a leading Independent Connections Provider. We specialise in the design and build of new and upgraded electrical infrastructure solutions for business, industry, commercial properties and EV charging. We also offer a full-range of electrical engineering services directly to Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) and their major subcontractors on sites up to 132kV. We deliver to the highest standards for the best value and have a proven track record of safety and quality utilising our expert internal resources to provide our customers a full end to end service, including project management from concept to energisation. We are fully accredited and licenced to provide critical power supply infrastructure.

Role overview

The Tendering Manager – Major Projects is responsible for assisting in the timely production of detailed pricing of HV & EHV Tenders up to 132kV generally from a client scope, specification or DNO Point of Connection offers. This will require the compilation of accurate estimates for multi discipline works, including labour, plant, equipment, materials and sub-contract requirements during the tendering stage. This position will line manage a growing team of estimators.

Main duties

  • Be accountable for the Major Projects sales pipeline, ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness of quotations.
  • Managing a growing team of estimators, developing and evolving processes and commercial governance.
  • Estimating of ICP Contestable quotations, ensuring the relevant DNO/IDNO materials are specified and quoted.
  • Working independently to review Request for Quotations and Invitation to Tender documents, create a Bill of Materials and consult the supply chain for pricing, to be fed into the overall estimate.
  • Work with the Estimating and Design Team to help with development, innovation, and creativity on Client Private Network Projects
  • Independently prepare budget costs for new contracts. These will be then be signed off by Senior Major Project Estimator.
  • Ensure consistency across all budget estimating and pricing, including making amendments, and maintaining communication with both internal and external stakeholders, where applicable.
  • Adhere to company standards and guidelines when analysing and providing estimations; focus on maximising profit and customer satisfaction, while minimising any potential risks to the company
  • With support from the Major Projects Senior Estimator, prepare detailed, well-written proposals for Clients, adhering to Client guidelines while offering competitive and comprehensive cost estimates, and including supplementary documentation.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with new and existing suppliers – ensuring maximum value for both RPC and our clients.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments and legislative changes which impact our Major Projects pricing strategy and processes

  • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, is desirable
