HSE Advisor

Job Overview

To provide health, safety and environmental support directly to all parts of the JCA business in order to ensure a safe working environment and appropriate levels of compliance are achieved in all areas, at all times.

To advise the Directors and Managers on all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations.

Main Duties

• Give advice and guidance on all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental issues at all stages of a contract.
• Ensure the JCA Safe System of Work is implemented on sites and adhered to at all times.
• Conduct HSE inspections on sites in line with the JCA Monitoring Schedule.
• Conduct audits supporting the ISO 45001 accreditation.
• Assist on all accident and incident investigations.
• Give guidance and professional advice in the production of site‑specific risk assessments and method statements supporting operations.
• Assist with the completion of HSE sections of client PQQs, CPP\’s and tender information requests.
• Engage with delivery teams at the inception of a contract to give HSE advice and guidance.
• Support external audits by accreditation bodies or clients.
• Assist with the co‑ordination and completion of DSE assessments and associated paperwork for all JCA employees.
• Produce monthly H&S reports for inclusion in HSE Managers reports for presentation to the Executive Board members.
• Conduct regular sub‑contractor control inspections on company sites.
• Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and bring to the attention of the Director responsible for Health and Safety any relevant new legislation.
• Report if situations are found that, in the opinion of the Safety Manager, require immediate rectification or the stopping of any operation.

What we are looking for

• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
• Have a minimum of 1 year\’s experience in a similar role.
• Possess a thorough knowledge of health and safety and quality assurance.
• Possess a thorough knowledge of ISO 45001.
• Experience of working directly with end user H&S team
• Experience in construction projects and maintenance delivery
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office package
• CSCS Safety Professional card
• Member of IOSH
