Cleaner / Mobile Cleaner with a clean UK driving licence. Job Title: Cover Cleaner/Mobile Cleaner. Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour. Contract: Permanent. Type of Employment: Part Time. Hours: 20+ hours per week. Shift: Monday to Sunday (weekends and mid-week cover shifts). Location: Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Civic Offices, London Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, England, RG214AH.
We are looking for a dedicated Cover Cleaner & Mobile Public Area Cleaning Operative to join our team. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to maintain all cleaning public toilets, equipment and areas in a clean, well-maintained, and safe condition, adhering to our Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You will gain a comprehensive understanding of your designated cleaning area, including optimal hours for cleaning tasks and the specific cleaning equipment and chemicals used on-site, while complying with Health and Safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain public toilets, equipment and associated areas to meet SLAs.
- Perform mobile cleaning at various public conveniences across Basinkstoke and surrounding areas.
- Understand the designated cleaning area, required schedules, and use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Work within Health and Safety regulations and company policies.
- Attend and complete all necessary cleaning and operational training, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with clients.
- Be flexible with working hours, including days, some nights, and weekends to cover absences.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Must have a clean UK Driving Licence and access to a company pool vehicle.
- Ability to communicate and read basic English; previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential.
- Flexible, reliable, proactive, and self-driven with a professional attitude.
- Willingness to work at a site with 5-hour daily core cleaning plus additional mobile cleaning hours.
Hours and Deployment
Current role involves 5 hours of site cleaning per day with additional mobile cleaning across Basinkstoke and surrounding areas. Shifts may be split into 5–8 hour blocks. Availability for morning, daytime, or evening shifts is essential. Some days shifts, nights, and weekends may be required to cover team absences.
