Job objectives and responsibilities:
- Contribute to the overall success of the Sainsbury's contract by providing effective support to the management team responsible for the store detective establishment.
- Provide active support to zonal Store Detective Security Operations Managers, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct store detective evaluations across the designated area and assist managers with scheduling duties when required.
- Plan, coordinate and deliver training sessions to store detectives aligned with operational needs and objectives.
- Support the Store Detective Security Operations Manager in ensuring the delivery of core store detective coverage hours.
- Take shared responsibility for the achievement of KPIs, including ROI and establishment targets.
- Collaborate effectively with other internal support functions to maximise the store detective team's contribution to reducing client losses.
- Assist in the execution of the contract's store detective strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and client expectations.
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity in all actions and decisions, upholding the highest professional standards.
Main duties – Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support for the area's store detective provision in the absence of the Zonal Manager.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of store detective evaluations in line with guidance and best practices.
- Assist with CIR and ECO investigations as required.
- Promote and enforce a culture of integrity; ensure detectives conduct duties ethically.
- Participate in regular meetings with detectives and Managers to support communication, development and performance management.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of reports generated by detectives, maintaining high data quality.
- Support embedding and sustaining the store detective programme across the area.
- Drive service excellence by continuously improving operational practices and performance.
- Identify training needs, address underperformance and provide support to individuals.
- Provide support with HR-related cases as required, following internal policies and employment legislation.
- Work with key support teams such as Remote Operations and the Security Operations Centre to enhance overall service delivery.
- Identify potential future detectives and support their development.
- Respond proactively to emerging risks associated with criminal activity, adapting strategies accordingly.
- Support induction and onboarding for all new detectives, ensuring smooth transition into the role.
- Assist in delivery of Level 3 Store Detective Accreditation training in line with operational requirements.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience within a store detective environment and understanding of responsibilities.
- In-depth knowledge of challenges faced in a dynamic retail setting.
- Expertise in investigations into internal and external dishonesty, reviewing CCTV footage and producing police-standard statements.
- Initiative to implement proactive strategies for shrink reduction and loss prevention.
- Collaborative team player with strong communication and leadership mindset.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Proficient in leveraging technology to support management and delivery of store detective operations.
