Detention Custody Officer – Heathrow Vehicle Base
Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services invites applications for the role of Detention Custody Officer (DCO) at the Heathrow Vehicle Base. The successful candidate will escort and transport immigration residents within the UK, including driving a small motorised vehicle and managing safety and welfare of residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Escort and transport immigration residents within the UK.
- Drive a small mini‑bus sized vehicle and provide escort inside the vehicle during shifts.
- Maintain high standards of security and safety while promoting the welfare and decency of residents in your care.
- Cover day and night shifts as the contract is delivered 24‑hrs/day, 365 days a year.
- Participate in 4‑week initial training, a 7‑day residential course in Oxfordshire, and ongoing on‑the‑job mentoring to achieve a Level 3 apprenticeship in Detention and Custody.
Essential Criteria
- UK citizen, Commonwealth citizen with indefinite leave to remain, or EEA citizen.
- Valid UK passport or settled status with no restrictions.
- Continuous residence in the UK for the previous 5 years; no more than 3 months overseas within the past 3 years.
- Full UK manual driving licence with at least 12 months post‑qualifying experience; fewer than 7 points on the licence.
- No driving ban, disqualification or bankruptcy in the last 12 months.
- Pass a red/green colour‑blind test as part of air‑side driving requirement.
- Prepared to undergo Enhanced DBS, employer referencing for the previous 5 years, and Counter‑Terrorist Checked (CTC) vetting.
