We are seeking a Deputy Centre Director at Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre (IRC), which combines Colnbrook and Harmondsworth centres under one management structure, making it the largest IRC in Europe.

• Job Overview
• Support the Centre Director in ensuring full contractual compliance and ensuring adherence to legislation, company policies and procedures, contractual obligations and financial parameters.
• To work with the managers to develop innovative practice and service development to add value to provision for Residents.
• Liaise with key stakeholders, including (but not limited to) Home Office, Independent Monitoring Board, Emergency Services, Border Force, NHS England and the local Health Provider etc, working in partnership to resolve issues and to ensure the smooth running of the Centre and delivery of quality services to the Residents.

Main Duties

• Day to day responsibility for Centre operations as delegated by the Centre Director.
• Lead, motivate and coach the operational senior management team to ensure company values and vision, policies and procedures and all contractual standards and Key Performance Indicators are achieved.
• Work closely with business partners within Mitie (e. g. Training, HR, IT, Finance etc), to ensure effective delivery of support services within the Centre.
• Ensure clear governance of incident management through clear processes and review systems.
• Integrate HMIP ‘Expectations' into all key policies and raise awareness with all staff groups in order to embed the principles as appropriate.
• Work with staff across the Centre to ensure a culture where people are respected and valued, treated with dignity, developed and recognised so that a safe, inclusive and positive environment is maintained.
• Develop a culture committed to continuous improvement and the delivery of excellent service, by ensuring that audit and compliance activities are firmly embedded within each functional area.
• Manage financial and commercial aspects of the Centre's operational areas, including developing and agreeing budgets and expenditure to ensure financial parameters and company targets are met.
• Manage serious operational incidents assuming the role of Silver Commander in liaison with both Mitie and Home Office Gold Command.
• What we are looking for

Essential

• Relevant detention, custodial or similar leadership experience is a requirement for this role
• Leadership experience of leading a team of scale: typically 50 - 200 staff+: including through middle managers
• Commercial and contract compliance experience
• Relevant experience of managing budgets for day to day employee cost management

Desirable

• Nebosh (General Certificate) or IOSH Managing Safely
• Level 6 Qualification: g. Degree Apprenticeship, Degree (BA / BSc), Graduate level Certificates, Diploma or Awards. NVQ Level 6 in an appropriate discipline.
