- Lead and assure high‑quality risk assessments (RAMS, COSHH, environmental impact) and ensure effective control measures are in place.
- Identify hazards and implement controls focusing on major risks such as pressure systems, HV/LV, confined spaces, Legionella, and asbestos.
- Drive a proactive safety culture, promoting visible leadership and intervention‑based behaviours.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, environmental regulations, Gx P/GMP standards, and client‑specific requirements (e. g. Astra Zeneca/GSK).
- Oversee Safe Systems of Work (SSo W) and Permit to Work (PTW) processes, ensuring governance, accountability, and auditability.
- Develop and deliver SHE audit and inspection programmes, monitoring performance through KPIs, trends, and compliance metrics.
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring thorough root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure robust emergency preparedness, including response planning, training, and drills.
- Define and manage SHE training requirements, ensuring competency across engineers, supervisors, and contractors.
- Oversee contractor and supply chain safety through onboarding, audits, and performance monitoring.
- Support environmental performance improvements, including waste, energy, and emissions management.
- Required Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) – essential
- Experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and Gx P/GMP standards
- Practical experience managing high‑risk engineering activities (e. g. HV/LV, pressure systems, confined spaces, Legionella, asbestos)
- Experience working with facilities management or engineering service delivery teams
- Proven experience in audit cycles, compliance reporting, and governance frameworks
- What We’re Looking For
- Strong expertise in risk assessment, hazard identification, and quality assurance processes
- Excellent knowledge of UK/EU Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation
- Ability to act as a subject matter expert and provide independent assurance
- Proven experience managing incident investigations and driving continuous improvement
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and operational teams
- Proactive, solutions‑focused approach with the ability to influence safety culture
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment

- Environmental qualification (e. g. IEMA or equivalent)
- Chartered status (e. g. CMIOSH)
- Experience working within pharmaceutical or GMP‑regulated environments
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulatory audit requirements
- Experience working closely with FM teams and supply chain partners
