• Mitie has a great opportunity for Security Officer's in Manchester at one of our client's primary locations.
• You will be contracted to a minimum of 42 hours a week with a pay rate of £14.17per hour.
• The location is currently open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, however you may be asked to work special events that finish after 20:00, or occur on a Sunday.
• The location will be opening on a Sunday from January 2027.
• You will be part of a large security team each day that reports to the Security Supervisor, with an Operations Manager also having oversight.
• As part of your duties you will be checking members of the public, contractors , etc., using hand held detector wands and detection arches.

Main Duties

• As the first point of contact to all customers and clients, the Security Officer must be geographically aware of their local surroundings.
• There will be long periods of patrolling in all weather conditions, so someone who is not phased by working in an outdoor environment is desirable.
• The Security Officer must spot and stop all suspicious sightings or potential criminal activity and retain full control until the arrival of emergency services.
• Report to the Security Shift Manager – record, report and elevate all sightings and arrests on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate

• The Security Officer will demonstrate their character as determined, trustworthy, attentive and approachable at all times when welcoming clients and customers.
• The Security Officer will need to be a team player with an enthusiastic attitude.
• The Security Officer should be able to work on own initiative.
• Excellent communication skills is essential (written and verbal).
• Retail Security experience is preferred but not essential.
• Flexible approach to work to suit the business needs.
• Calm under pressure.
• Understand the Health and Safety at Work Act, relevant Criminal, Civil Law and Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
