Mitie is recruiting Security Officers to join our team at a brand-new HMRC site in Telford.
Location: Telford | Pay: £13.09 per hour | Hours: 42 hours per week | Shift pattern: 4 on, 4 off (days and nights).
About The Role
As a Security Officer you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day security operation of this prestigious government site. You will deliver a visible security presence, conduct patrols, monitor site activity, manage access control and respond to incidents while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous security experience
- Valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervisor)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Professional, reliable and approachable manner
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Comfortable using security technology and systems
- Ability to work both day and night shifts
Security Clearance Requirement
Successful candidates are required to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) Clearance. Applicants typically need to have been continuously resident in the UK for the last 5 years and meet other government vetting requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors and contractors
- Conducting routine patrols and security checks
- Monitoring access and egress points
- Responding to incidents, emergencies and security concerns
- Completing accurate incident reports and records
- Reporting Health & Safety hazards and security risks
- Following assignment instructions, site procedures and compliance requirements
- Delivering a professional and customer‑focused security service at all times
