Job Overview:
Protect customer property, people and/or assets by providing security services in accordance with the site's published Assignment Instructions (AI) and subsequent changes. Deliver results that meet or exceed the key performance indicators/service level agreement for the customer. Undertake additional training for continuous self‑development.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a visual deterrent on the shop floor.
- Safely detain offenders.
- Investigate losses and support inquiries about known offenders.
- Complete accurate incident reports and company documentation.
- Report crime incidents to store management and police.
- Conduct routine patrols to ensure customer safety.
- Record patrols in the daily occurrence book.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all.
Main Duties:
- Ensure compliance with policies and UK law.
- Fully complete tasks and duties as defined within the published Assignment Instructions.
- Stay aware of changes to Assignment Instructions and suggest amendments to improve service.
- Comply with industry and statutory legislation; obtain and wear required licences.
- Follow instructions and procedures appropriately.
- Work systematically, methodologically and orderly.
Training:
- Complete required competency training.
- Undertake additional training for continuous self‑development.
- Use technology to achieve key work objectives.
- Renew licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety:
- Report hazards and potential hazards on site immediately.
- Stay alert to threats or changes.
- Use common sense and involve others if threats arise.
- Maintain professional conduct with difficult customers.
- Complete detailed notebook entries after incidents.
- Adhere to schedules and demonstrate commitment.
- Ensure check calls at scheduled times.
- Call emergency services and communication centre for all incidents.
Qualifications:
- Door Supervision or Security Guarding Licence.
- Five‑year checkable employment history or documentary evidence of unemployment, self‑employment, or education.
- Driving licence and access to own vehicle.
- Previous experience in a retail security role.
