His role is flexible and you MUST be able to work unusual hours - we have 4 ERO teams consisting of 4 ERO's per team covering the site 24/7 working a 12 hour shift pattern.

This role will include covering annual leave, ERO's on training courses and sickness absence, etc.

Actively respond as part of a ERT team on site to an emergency situation such as an uncontrolled fire or release of potentially harmful substances/acids.

Provide first-aid / medical care to protect lives.

The Emergency Response Team will be responding with the site-based fire appliance and part of a team of 4 ERT Officers.

Taking part in ongoing training relating to all the Emergency Response Teams (ERT) customer specified requirements.

Conducting security response and security inspections to create a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and contractors.

To communicate any security risks to team leader/ERT Manager and conduct work in a safe and diligent manner.

To be a point of contact for visitors, employees and contractors attending site (Security related duties in the gatehouse).

Support of the sites Personal Protective Equipment provision.

To provide a professional, on-site presence and assist the customer where possible.

Vehicles checks and searches as required.

The post holder will be expected to comply with the department's policies and procedures at all times.

In order to do their job, the post holder will be trained and coached in the procedures and policies of the customers' expectations.

You will be expected to familiarise themselves with the sites procedures and policies and to seek advice and guidance from the ERT Site Security Manager if required.

The key objectives / responsibilities listed above are only an indication of the main duties required to be performed.

Person Specification

  • The weekly contracted hours for this role will be 42hrs pw - although more hours maybe worked so long as the working time directive is NOT breached.
  • Pass all required security and background checks, willing to undergo a 5-year employment check and able to account for a full 5-year history, providing evidence of all employment, unemployment, training etc during this period in line with strict vetting criteria.
  • Security Officer duties will also be part of the role which may include; patrolling the site, gatehouse duties, vehicles searches as required, contractors inductions, monitoring CCTV and the access control platform C-Cure.
  • Able to provide I. D documentation proving identity, right to work and all previous and current addresses in line with strict vetting criteria.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Professional approach to all tasks.
  • IT Literate able to draft incident reports.
  • Positive outlook, when performing either ERT or Security Officer related duties.
  • Have integrity, adaptability, and dedication to role.
  • Initiative-taking and willing to help and support in all situations. Security SIA licence is a requirement.
  • If you are successful you will need to arrange an external course and obtain your SIA licence before being offered the role.
  • Full clean Driving Licence.
  • An in-date First Aid at Work qualification (desirable).
  • Must be courteous and professional at all times, take pride in their personal appearance.
  • Must have an excellent work ethic, be dependable and be able to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Computer literate (basic).
  • Committed to on-going training and development.
  • Fire Service Vocational Qualifications Is An Advantage.
  • Whole-time/retained fire-fighter or industrial fire-fighter qualifications.
  • Fully trained in Breathing Apparatus to Home Office standards.
  • Trained in Confined Space rescue and working at height rescue (desirable).
  • Current pass certificate for fire-fighter physical fitness test (treadmill test or equivalent) - desirable.
