Regional Account Manager

PFI Education Portfolio | Hampshire & South Coast Region | Mitie

If you understand the world of PFI contracts and enjoy building strong client relationships, leading people, and driving performance across multiple sites, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

We're looking for an experienced Regional Account Manager to join Mitie and take responsibility for a portfolio of predominantly PFI education contracts across Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Basingstoke and the surrounding region. The role offers the chance to lead established contracts while bringing fresh energy, commercial focus and a customer-first approach to a portfolio that is entering an exciting phase of development.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional account management role.

You’ll be responsible for a diverse portfolio of long-term PFI contracts, working closely with SPVs, Local Authorities, schools, operational teams and specialist service providers to ensure exceptional service delivery, contractual compliance and strong commercial performance. Many of the contracts have several years remaining, providing the opportunity to make a lasting impact while helping to shape contract performance and client relationships for the future.

You’ll lead a team of Contract Managers, oversee multiple P&Ls and act as the senior point of escalation for clients and operational teams. You’ll also support key lifecycle programmes and help navigate the unique challenges that come with managing complex PFI environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading a regional PFI education portfolio across multiple sites.
  • Managing contract performance, KPIs, SLAs and commercial outcomes.
  • Building trusted relationships with SPV partners, Local Authorities and senior client stakeholders.
  • Coaching and developing Contract Managers to deliver consistently high standards.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to add value.
  • Managing subcontractors and internal service delivery teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Supporting lifecycle planning and contract handback activities where required.
  • Ensuring compliance, health & safety and contractual obligations are consistently met.

What We're Looking For

We're open to candidates from education, healthcare, local government or wider FM backgrounds, but PFI experience is essential.

You’ll Likely Have

  • Significant experience managing PFI contracts within a facilities management environment.
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple sites, contracts and budgets.
  • A broad understanding of integrated FM services.
  • Knowledge of compliance, fire safety and hard services challenges within complex estates.
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to motivate established teams.
  • The resilience and credibility to manage demanding stakeholder environments.
  • A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the portfolio.

Mitie is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

If you are working in regulated activity please note that you are subject to the following:

  • It is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with that particular group (i.e. vulnerable adults, children or both).
  • This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and Mitie is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children or vulnerable adults.
