Store Detective - B&Q Stores Reading and South East Area
Weekly hours: 50h
Hourly pay: £13.30
Responsibilities
- Observe, deter and arrest individuals involved in criminal activity.
- Liaise with police forces and other crime prevention partners to stay up to date with local crime trends.
- Build a local network to identify and disrupt crime.
- Report incidents accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Occasionally attend court to provide evidence.
What We Are Looking For
- Must be able to drive due to the nature of the job.
- Ability to adapt to varying daily store conditions and maintain composure under pressure.
- Strong customer service experience and communication skills (written and verbal).
- GCSE English or equivalent qualification.
- Proactive, forward-thinking, adaptable, and motivated with a drive to learn.
- Positive, outgoing team player.
- Essential: SIA licence – store detective experience is desirable.
- Excellent observational skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations and make quick decisions.
- Confidence to challenge individuals when necessary.
- Experience using modern surveillance systems, such as CCTV and electronic tagging.
