What You’ll Be Doing
At Mitie, we’re proud to have over 5,000 technical services engineering colleagues delivering excellence across the UK. This role will be based at Mitie on the Sandwell Schools contract. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with strong practical abilities, particularly in DIY, maintenance, and the repair or restoration of items. This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to develop hands‑on technical skills within a professional facilities environment, supporting both personal growth and long‑term career development.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Developing core skills to carry out routine maintenance and minor planned and reactive repairs
- Using a broad range of trade skills including carpentry, joinery, basic plumbing, plastering, brickwork, and decorating
- Supporting general site maintenance across school environments
- Working alongside experienced colleagues to build practical, on-the-job knowledge
- Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) standards at all times
As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 qualification which normally runs for 18 months. You will be fully supported by GLP Training with 1‑2‑1 advice and support, e‑learning materials, and a team of experts. You will attend GLP Training Centre’s in Worcester every 3 months for 2‑3 days, with all travel expenses and accommodation covered.
To Succeed As a Mitie Apprentice, You’ll Need:
- A keen interest in your chosen field.
- The ability to think critically and find solutions.
- Dedication to completing your apprenticeship and growing with Mitie.
- GCSEs in Maths and English (Grades 4‑9 or equivalent) or Scottish National 5 certificates (Grade A‑C). Certificates must be provided at the interview stage.
