HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

LOCATION: Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre / Oxford area

We are seeking an engaging and experienced Operational Trainer to ensure that all colleagues, new and existing are fully equipped to perform their roles and empowered to reach their full potential.

Job Objectives And Responsibilities

  • Manage the completion of the Centre's Training Plan, including the delivery of ITCs, non-operational staff training, and refreshers.
  • Deliver training packages and workshops to new and experienced Care & Custody colleagues, both virtually and in person.
  • Create 'Train the Trainer' programmes for Operational Coaches, Buddies, and Mentors.
  • Apply a range of training techniques tailored to diverse learning styles, neurodiversity, and individual needs.
  • Monitor progress during training & provide constructive verbal and written feedback to support their development throughout foundational training.
  • Collaborate with the Training Support Team to maintain accurate records of individual training and assessments, including attendance tracking for recruitment, remuneration, and vetting purposes.
  • Conduct regular reviews of existing training materials and recommend updates to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the design, development, review, and enhancement of Care & Custody learning packages.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2 years' experience in a people-facing training role
  • A Level 3 Education and Training qualification
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other locations for training and development, including potential overnight stays
  • Proven experience using a variety of techniques to support training and development activities
  • Ability to adapt behaviours, communication styles, and approaches to suit diverse audiences
  • Clear, confident, and effective written communication
  • Desirable: Instructor qualifications in Use of Force (Control and Restraint [C&R], Home Office Manual for Escorting Safely [HOMES], or Spontaneous Protection Enabling an Accelerated Response [SPEAR]), First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, or Health & Safety are desirable but not required
  • You must be eligible for CTC clearance
  • You must hold a valid British passport or an EU passport with a share code. Additionally, you must have lived and worked in the UK for at least 3 years, without any extended trips overseas.
  • Applicants must have no criminal convictions and must not be subject to any ongoing police investigations.
