LOCATION: Home based (North of England, Birmingham – West Midlands, London, South East and South Coast)

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK's largest Project Services providers, working across a mix of office refurbishments, retail outlets, industrial and manufacturing facilities, defence estates and nuclear sector areas. Projects are located across the UK but have a concentration across the North of England, Birmingham – West Midlands, London, South East and along the South Coast. The role will form part of a growing Project team and help to drive forward a strong team culture. Hybrid working is available with the expectation to travel as required to client sites.

As part of our investments into this new team, we want to hire new team members at Quantity Surveyor level with experience in dynamic project environments. Skill sets focused around contract and subcontract management, value generation, cost control and IT skills are highly desirable. Contracts are generally based upon NEC 3 or 4, JCT, CCS along with a range of bespoke contracts. Good contractual working knowledge is required along with an appreciation of the governance controls that form part of working in a large multi-disciplinary organisation.

Operating across a diverse portfolio of projects within the public sector, delivering a consistently high throughput of work, the Quantity Surveyor will support projects across all RIBA stages (0–7), ensuring comprehensive commercial oversight.

Role Responsibilities

  • Maximise the successful running and commercial control of each project.
  • Accurate management of projects through budgeting and reporting to enable each to be delivered in accordance with contract conditions in the most cost-effective manner possible.
  • Work with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager and help manage a team of Trainees, offering support and guidance where required and assisting in the delivery of the project portfolio.
  • Create schedules of works, budgets or quantify Bills of Quantities where required.
  • Attend meetings with clients and/or their representatives and present the tenderers' position.
  • Review budgets and allowances with the relevant Project Manager to identify whether construction periods or costs can be reduced.
  • Attend subcontractor pre-contract meetings with Project Managers where required, ensuring prospective subcontractors are fully compliant.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of projects and the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to understand and interpret design drawings.
  • Quantity Surveying relevant degree and 3 years' experience, or a minimum of 5 years' relevant working experience.
