Alarm Communications Limited is a leading team of fire protection, commercial security, and building management systems specialists based in Surrey. We are seeking an Apprentice Fire & Security Engineer to support routine maintenance, installation, call‑outs, and standby for Intruder, CCTV, Access Control and Fire Alarm systems across London and surrounding areas. The apprentice will work alongside a competent Engineer and assist with the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining fire alarm, access control, CCTV and intruder alarm systems to the highest standards, representing the engineering face of the company.
- Carrying out routine services of fire and intruder alarm systems.
- Providing detailed information to enable accurate quoting of chargeable works.
- Maintaining impeccable conduct and delivering the highest standard of customer service.
- Keeping concise and accurate records of work completed.
- Completing the Fire & Security Systems Qualification.
Qualifications
- Qualified to A Level or BTEC.
- Electrical qualification is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Exemplary conduct and appearance, excellent communication skills, and a drive to deliver high standards.
- Meticulous and detail‑oriented approach.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and reliability.
- Self‑motivated with ability to manage workload and coursework efficiently.
- Full Manual UK Driver’s Licence. If you don’t have a full licence, you must endeavour to pass within the first 18 months of employment.
- GCSEs in Maths and English grade 4+.
- Willingness to undertake regional travel, including travel in and out of London.
Training & Development
To become a fully qualified Fire & Security Engineer, you will learn on the job while studying across a 3‑year course delivered in block releases—one‑week blocks totaling 14 across the period. You will attend college for theory and practical exams and complete a Level 3 End Point Assessment (EPA).
