We are looking for a Custody Detention Officer to work alongside the Police in custody suites, caring for detainees. The role involves supporting detainees during custody, completing forensic samples, and collaborating with other agencies to facilitate rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care and support to vulnerable individuals detained in custody suites.
- Assist with completing forensic samples and documentation.
- Work with law enforcement and other agencies to coordinate support services for detainees.
- Escort detainees, conduct recorded observations as per individual care plans, and respond to any risk of self-harm or harm to others.
- Collaborate with Police Officers and Senior Custody Detention Officers within a small team.
- Adapt to a flexible shift pattern across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.
- Participate in the initial training course and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working within police, security, or armed forces is advantageous but not required.
- Basic spoken and written English and numeracy skills are essential.
- Competence in using computers and common software applications.
- Full valid UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK (British passport, ILR or EU settled status).
- Subject to police vetting; a clean driving record and criminal record are mandatory.
- Training will be provided even for candidates without prior experience.
