About the Role
The Mobile Store Detective works across multiple retail locations under the B&Q Contract. The role requires your own vehicle and business insurance. You will reduce theft and stock loss, protect customers and staff, and support security operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor customer behaviour and detect suspicious activity across multiple sites
- Covertly observe and, where appropriate and safe, apprehend shoplifters
- Provide detailed incident reports and witness statements as required
- Liaise with store managers, staff and local police when necessary
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and SIA guidelines
- Travel between assigned stores in Essex and Kent
- Represent the company professionally at all times
Requirements
- Valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervisor)
- Previous experience as a Store Detective or Retail Security Officer preferred
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential)
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Confidence in dealing with conflict and making decisions
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
