Job Objectives And Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals wanting to continue their career in psychology. HMP Millsike is a brand-new category C Resettlement Prison in York and as such, Mitie have the vision of influencing from the very start the creation of a positive, rehabilitative and restorative culture for both staff and prisoners. As a Registered Forensic Psychologist (RFP) you will be part of and contribute to the realisation of this vision.

As a RFP you will work directly with prisoners, staff and various stakeholders under the supervision of a Principal Psychologist.

In this role you will be accountable for ensuring psychological services are delivered in an ethical and professional manner, in line with the Health Professional Council (HPC) Standards of Proficiency, the HPC Standards of Performance and Ethics, and the British Psychological Services (BPS) Code of Ethics and Conduct. You will also be responsible for the oversight, delivery standards, performance and management of Trainee Psychologists and will report to the Principal Psychologist.

Person Specification

The job holder will be a Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council and eligible to use a protected title. They are likely to also be a Chartered Psychologist and Full member of the appropriate division of the BPS if the post requires it. They will have been registered for over two years and are eligible for Associate Fellowship of the British Psychological Society (BPS). Equivalent of HMPPS/NHS Band 8 placement so relevant experience to the role required. Previous relevant experience in a custodial or secure environment is preferred for this role due to the assessments required in relation to parole directed requests. Supervisory experience of leading and supervising a team. Experience of providing professional supervision for trainee/assistant psychologists enrolled upon a formal training route. Experience with the Parole Board system. Confident in terms of enabling the appropriate reports to be compiled to a high standard from the psychology team.

Preferred experience includes being registered as a Forensic Psychologist under HCPC modalities, with a preference for candidates to be RAPP registered (Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors) registered.
