Mitie is looking for a Hire Service Engineer to support our growing wastewater hire operations by preparing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing specialist pumping and treatment equipment used across wastewater and utility sites.
Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and carry out service work on wastewater treatment systems, components, and processes, including screening, pumping, biological treatment, filtration, and sludge handling.
- Develop maintenance methodologies, test protocols, and acceptance criteria in line with regulatory and customer requirements to ensure fleet performance and reliability.
- Prepare, service, maintain, and repair specialist hire equipment across operational wastewater sites.
- Support customers with high‑quality technical service, site support, and safety‑focused operations.
- Assist in ensuring the hire fleet remains compliant, efficient, and operational at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience working with wastewater treatment systems or water engineering infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of wastewater processes, system chemistry, and treatment performance.
- Excellent analytical skills and report‑writing ability.
- Strong problem‑solving capability and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work on operational wastewater sites.
- Experience with industrial wastewater systems and installations.
- Knowledge of UK water industry standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders, and customer demonstrations.
- Chartered or working towards professional registration (ICE, CIWEM).
- Familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
