Ensure the safety and security of staff and customers, enforcing health and safety regulations for contractors, providing out‑of‑hours support to the Help Desk, and aiding visitors. The role requires a valid SIA CCTV licence.
Responsibilities
- Start shifts promptly at the designated time, fully uniformed.
- Maintain active communication during changeovers, briefing yourself and others on critical matters.
- Work as part of the Mitie team, upholding the company’s values and standards.
- Liaise with retailers regarding security matters or concerns about contractor access.
- Assist on‑site police in crime prevention and detection.
- Prevent unauthorised personnel from entering Bluewater and other sensitive areas.
- Perform a comprehensive check of all vulnerable points on the perimeter of the buildings, ensuring barriers are secure and free of risk.
- Maintain and monitor vehicle access and ingress in service areas within time constraints.
- Ensure health and safety points are adhered to at all times, challenging and reporting breaches.
- Check for suspicious activities, persons, and vehicles.
- Conduct regular checks of areas listed within the Assignment Instructions.
- Detect and report any safety hazards or defects in the barrier systems immediately.
- Verify the identity and work permits of contractors working in the building.
- Monitor the booking system for all out‑of‑hours subcontractors.
- Carry out any other duties deemed appropriate or necessary to the post.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to operate in a pressurised environment.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Proactive and professional approach to security.
- Strong initiative, able to work independently and within a team.
- Experience working within a team and on your own – essential.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and policy.
- Corporate experience preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Valid CCTV SIA Licence.
