Job Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Process all bank and cash transactions, producing daily reconciliations of Prisoner Fund accounts.
  • Assist with month-end reconciliations and ensure timely submission of returns to the Finance Department (HQ).
  • Process invoices and travel & subsistence claims; prepare and process journals for prisoner transfers.
  • Prepare daily and weekly journals to reconcile prisoner personal cash, wages, and PIN phone transactions.
  • Conduct daily cash checks and reconciliations, investigating discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Ensure all monies are banked securely and promptly, maintaining the security of the cash office.
  • Deliver financial administrative services in line with contractual and company standards.
  • Administer all aspects of prisoner accounts with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Liaise with the company’s Finance Business Partner (FBP) to report relevant and timely financial information.
  • Maintain manual and electronic records to ensure data is current and accessible.
  • Support the wider administrative team to ensure smooth operations across the establishment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Relevant previous experience in an administrative role handling sensitive and confidential information, including pay and cash.
  • Clear communicator with a good standard of verbal and written English.
  • Intermediate or better IT skills: proficient and confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualifications or accreditation to Level 2 or above (e.g., CSE grade 1, GCSE, NVQ, etc.).
  • Previous experience in a finance administrative support role.
