Role Responsibilities (Nights Assistant Manager β Environmental Services and Waste)
- As the senior on-site Environmental Services Manager during the night shift, the Assistant Manager provides strong leadership to frontline teams working across cleaning and waste operations at Liverpool ONE.
- Support Liverpool ONEβs environmental management system, cleaning and waste policy, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and supporting the Environmental Services leadership in achieving departmental targets.
- Lead the environmental services team at night by demonstrating Mitie principles and values, inspiring and motivating the team, conducting regular performance reviews with Team Leaders, and identifying development opportunities for team members while delivering high standards and customer experience.
- Manage the night duties of the Environmental Services Team Leaders and operatives, ensuring suitable manning levels, and escalate issues to the Environmental Services Manager as needed.
- Lead the environmental services night team schedule, fleet and resources, ensuring inventories are completed and maintenance is up to date.
- Ensure completion of the nights Service Level Agreements for Cleaning and Waste Services on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, liaising with brand partners as necessary to maintain high standards.
- Undertake team briefings and engagement activities to ensure the night management team and operatives fulfil their roles in line with processes and compliance for cleanliness and waste management across the Liverpool ONE estate.
- Supervise and check compliance with nightly tasks, paperwork and machinery, addressing issues and escalating where required.
- Liaise with business support functions to ensure the team has the correct knowledge, qualifications, certifications, training and tools.
- Deliver compliant practices meeting statutory Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements.
- Ensure all systems and processes determined by the Environmental Services Manager and Mitie are implemented by all team members.
- Manage Cleaning and Waste operative resources within the agreed budget, monitor holidays and absences, and liaise with Resourcing and Workforce Planning as needed.
- Conduct audits and inspections to maintain high standards across cleanliness and waste management in Liverpool ONE.
- Support the delivery of all service and standards across the night shift pattern, reporting to the Environmental Services Manager.
- Deliver estate-wide projects across all night environmental services teams to ensure consistency and best customer experience.
- Take ownership of own professional development and adoption of best practices within Environmental Services and Operations teams.
- Provide Silver Command leadership in the event of major incidents on the night shift and undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Environmental Services Manager.
What We're Looking For
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop team performance to deliver KPIs and other targets.
- Experience managing interpersonal dynamics and team performance while fostering a positive work environment.
- Proven leadership experience in a cleaning and waste management environment.
- Experience in shopping centre, retail, hospitality, security, or facilities environments preferred.
- High level of situational awareness and attention to detail.
- Qualifications in IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid, WAMITAB, COSHH.
- Experience working night shifts preferred.
- Ability to manage a team to deliver services to an agreed budget.
- Ability to work across multiple disciplines and provide effective reporting.
- Accuracy in record keeping and excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Computer skills.
