At Mitie, we are looking for a Stores Manager to oversee the end‑to‑end management of technical stores. The role ensures timely procurement, accurate storage, and controlled distribution of engineering spares and materials, supporting onsite engineers by maintaining optimal stock levels, sourcing quality components, and ensuring all inventory movements are properly recorded and accounted for. The manager also has full responsibility for receipt, issue, accounting, and compliance of MOD stores using authorised military logistics systems such as MJDI and adhering to JSP 888.
Role Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and purchase technical spares, tools, and materials required by onsite engineers.
- Monitor stock levels of company uniforms and manage procurement, ordering, and replenishment of all uniform items.
- Oversee day‑to‑day operation of the technical stores, ensuring a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including receipts, issues, returns, and stock adjustments.
- Ensure full compliance with JSP 888 (Defence Logistics Framework) and related policy chapters on stock control, materiel accounting, and audit readiness.
- Liaise with MOD representatives, auditors, and internal stakeholders to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Provide clear leadership, guidance, and support to staff, ensuring they can perform effectively and escalating issues appropriately.
- Manage HR responsibilities including sickness and absence management, policy adherence, and completion of PDRs.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in procurement, stores management, or supply chain roles – ideally in a technical, engineering, defence, or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of technical spares, tools, and engineering materials.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards related to storage and materials handling.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with inventory management systems.
- Full, clean UK driving licence (Category B), able to operate vehicles up to Luton‑van size.
