Overview

We are recruiting a full‑time Cleanroom Technician to support operations at the Boulby Underground Laboratory. This is not a standard cleaning role; it is a specialist position that plays a vital part in enabling world‑class scientific research. The role involves working across both surface and underground facilities, maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness and contamination control in a safety‑critical, highly controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanroom environments to strict contamination control standards.
• Carry out scheduled and reactive cleaning activities across laboratory spaces.
• Support surface and underground operations and follow structured cleanroom procedures and protocols.
• Identify and respond to cleaning, maintenance and operational risks.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety and site regulations at all times.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with scientists, contractors and team members.

Qualifications

• Experience with cleanroom or similar controlled environments.
• Proactive approach with initiative to identify issues early and prepare for planned activities.
• Strong teamwork, communication and collaboration skills.
• High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership.
• Safety‑first mindset, ability to follow risk assessments, site rules and to challenge unsafe behaviours.
• Reliability, consistency and flexibility to meet operational demands.
• Willingness to learn and develop, including training in cleanroom procedures.
