Guaranteed number of hours per week, permanent location. Location: Christchurch. Pay: £14.05 per hour.

Job Overview: Retail Security Officer role to protect the Waitrose store, its people, and assets by providing security and excellent customer service through Mitie and Waitrose key values. Full and extensive training will be provided including MAYBO and key focus on customer service. Company funded SIA licence renewal. Fully supported by the NOC and provided technology such as body‑worn camera and incident reporting device. Delivering results that meet and/or exceed the expectations of Mitie and Waitrose by using all technology provided and following ASCONE guidance.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Previous security experience.
  • SIA License.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.

Main Duties (Operations):

  • Ensure compliance with all policies, legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK law and guidance bodies.
  • Engage fully with the National Operations Centre (NOC) and Mitie management, using all technology provided, including body cameras and mobile devices.
  • Complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's).
  • Proactively review Assignment Instructions and suggest amendments that will improve or enhance the level of service.
  • Maintain required front‑line licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) and wear it at all times while carrying out duties.
  • Work in a systematic, methodological and orderly way.

Training:

  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
  • Undertake training to ensure continuous self‑development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
  • Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
  • Renew licence at least 16 weeks before expiry.

Security and Health & Safety:

  • Immediately report any health & safety hazards or potential hazards on site.
  • Stay alert to threats or changes within the work environment to take appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
  • Use common sense and initiative, involving others if a situation appears threatening.
  • Maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
  • Complete a detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident for use in Incident Report process.
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
  • Ensure check calls are carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI's).
  • Call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
