You will be working alongside the Police in custody suites caring for detainees, you can have a career within the criminal justice system helping some of the most vulnerable people in society.
What can you expect to earn?
- £20.50 per hour for 1-2 shifts
- £22.50 per hour for 3-5 shifts
- £24.50 per hour for 6+ shifts
Experience – Essential:
- RN, RGN or RMN with dual registration: 2 years post qualification – Band 5 minimum
- Paramedic: 2 years post qualification
- Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a patient‑facing role within a relevant field: General Practice, A & E, Emergency Medicine, acute medicine, Walk‑in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare or Ambulance Service
Licence/Certification:
- HCPC/NMC membership (required)
- Driving licence (required)
- Must be a UK resident for 3 years with no gaps out of country longer than 3 months
All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting.
What does the role involve?
The custody suites can be an energetic place to work, with no two shifts the same. While detained, you will provide individuals with all their physical, mental healthcare and wellbeing needs, gather any forensic samples needed by the police to aid investigations, make careful records on our computerised systems, assess whether people are fit to be detained or released, administer medications when needed, and work with local Liaison and Diversion teams to address root‑cause issues that can prevent future crime. No previous forensic experience is required; we will provide all your training.
