As a certified nurse or paramedic, you will work within the criminal justice system providing healthcare to detainees. The role requires a minimum of two years’ post‑qualification experience in a patient‑facing clinical setting such as Accident & Emergency, General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Prison Healthcare or the Ambulance Service.
Responsibilities
- Deliver healthcare to detainees in custody suites in collaboration with the police.
- Provide continuous coverage, working a fixed shift rota of four shifts on and four days off, with a 6:45‑to‑19:00 shift and a 18:45‑to‑07:00 night shift.
- Operate within your base custody suite and across an assigned region of police custody suites and force area.
- Work flexibility to cover required shifts and participate in occasional bank/part‑time arrangements as needed.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN), Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Dual‑registered Royal Midwife (RMN) with at least 2 years post‑qualification; Band 5 minimum.
- Registered Paramedic with at least 2 years post‑qualification.
- Current driving licence.
- Qualified to work in the UK (UK‑born, British passport or ILR for 3 years, no absences abroad >3 months).
- Must undergo a police vetting process.
