Security Supervisor in Broadstairs

An opportunity has arisen for a Security Supervisor at Westwood Cross Shopping Centre near Broadstairs in Kent. The position is shift based, including weekends, bank holidays and occasional night work. It requires working closely with other site partners to deliver a safe and welcoming environment for guests.

Job Overview

Protect customers’ property, people and assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the Site’s published Assignment Instructions (AIs) and any subsequent changes. Deliver results that meet or exceed the key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer, taking full responsibility and accountability to aid in contract retention. Undertake additional training to ensure continuous self‑development.

Main Duties

• Lead and supervise the assigned team; take control and direct actions during incidents.
• Act as the first point of contact for the security team, ensuring standards of dress, discipline and conduct are met.
• Assist with ongoing training, ensuring all new officers are fully trained and inducted to site procedures and policies (CCTV, access control, deliveries, fire and intruder alarms).
• Develop teamwork and high morale through effective motivation.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for guests, answering queries, attending first aid cases, managing ASB and crime incidents.
• Liaise with local police when required.
• Review security officer performance and development.
• Assist in investigations of theft, missing items, complaints, etc.
• Provide customer/client liaison as required.
• Ensure Assignment Instructions are adhered to at all times by security personnel.
• Draft and amend procedures with expertise when required.
• Convey important messages in handover and ensure all personnel read and acknowledge them.
• Maintain up‑to‑date security records and logs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant data protection legislation.

• Previous security experience.
• SIA licence (DS essential; CCTV preferred).
• Good literacy, communication and verbal/written English skills.
• Computer and software literacy.
• Reliability, self‑motivation and ability to work independently.

• Ability to transfer self‑motivation to staff.
• Tact, diplomacy and the ability to deal with people at all levels.
• Self‑confidence and an interest in self‑development.
