Job Objectives And Responsibilities
- Fully trained in security operations, with a focus on patrolling the shopping centre, service areas, service desk, public areas and car park.
- Advising tenants regarding management regulations, diffusing incidents and preventing their occurrence.
- Maintaining fire and health & safety regulations, securing the premises and providing first‑aid assistance using “customer care” procedures at all times.
- All duties carried out in adherence with Mitie Health and Safety policy. Night shifts only on a 4‑on‑4‑off rota (£13.21 per hour).
Main Duties
- Ensure compliance with policies, legal and regulatory requirements as directed by Security Management and in accordance with UK law.
- Execute all tasks and duties on site as defined within the Assignment Instructions.
- Familiarise yourself with published Assignment Instructions and site SOPs; promptly report any changes.
- Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
- Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.
- Work in a systematic, methodical and orderly manner.
- Maintain a clean, smart, and tidy appearance and be aware of Health and Safety.
- Fully understand fire alarm procedures and act as an evacuation marshal in the event of a major incident.
- Be fully conversant with the location of all plant rooms, service corridors and lifts by name and location.
- Assist tenants upon request during incidents – either in person or via camera, and support police presence on site either in person or by camera or statement.
- Patrol malls, service areas, service desk and public areas.
- Deal with retailer and public enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
Security and Health & Safety
- Immediately report any Health & Safety hazards or potential hazards on site.
- Stay alert to any threats or environmental changes to reduce disruption, loss, or damage.
- Act with common sense and initiative, involving others if a situation becomes threatening.
- Maintain professional conduct in difficult situations and with challenging customers.
- Complete accurate, detailed notebook entries promptly after any incident, to support the Incident Report process.
- Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
