  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday 0730 – 1530 (opportunity for overtime available)

Responsibilities

  • To undertake improvement work, maintenance and repairs to the fabric of the building.
  • The responsibilities will be at the Mailbox Birmingham.
  • To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services to the Mailbox in Birmingham.
  • To carry out all works in compliance with MITIE’s KPI’s & SLAs at the Mailbox in Birmingham.
  • Impact

This role has an important role within the workflow process; the person will be actively involved in developing detailed knowledge, and the maintenance of building fabric on the Mailbox estate with instruction on a planned and reactive basis.

  • Complexity
  • Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to their own trade, without supervision.
  • Set up new work appropriate to their own trade using relevant tools, equipment and machinery, without supervision, as appropriate to the grade.
  • Maintain workshops, plant rooms and working environments in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
  • When required, work off tower scaffolding, MEWPs, moveable gantries, suspended cradles, fixed ladders and step ladders.
  • Carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report any defects or unusual circumstances.
  • Learn new techniques with training as necessary.
  • Scope of work includes entering plant rooms, roof elevations, car park, loading bay and mall areas.

Occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances may be encountered.

  • Understand the general working of the Mailbox Estate to carry out work in the most efficient manner and proactively develop new ways of working.
  • Understand the inter-relationship between various maintenance crafts.
  • Be contacted by radio and/or PDA to receive instructions, which may involve frequent disruption to work patterns.
  • Be knowledgeable of and work to current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations and all safety rules both MITIE and Statutory.
  • Produce a list of materials to carry out remedial repairs or alterations to current tasks, if necessary.
  • Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions.
  • Record information as required for the operation of the sites CAFM system.
  • Understand the working of painting fabric repairs within the Mailbox Estate.
  • Deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
  • Inform the immediate Maintenance Team Leader of any delays or difficulties encountered.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by Management to comply with MITIE’s contract KPI’s & SLAs.
  • Facilitate access and escort contractors when required.
  • Ensure MITIE’s SSOW are always followed.
  • Staff will be employed on work appropriate to their core specialist skill and will be progressively trained to acquire elements of extra skills, with the intention of reaching levels of flexibility and competence required by the role.
  • Pass knowledge gained to others.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as instructed by the manager.
  • Desired Qualifications or Required Experience
  • Maintenance painter/decorator must have work experience in painting and decorating within a guest‑focused environment.
  • City and Guilds Institute Painting and Decorating Parts 1 and 2.
  • Good working knowledge of painting and decorating operations.
