Are you a motivated Ecologist to join Mitie's growing Green Planet Design team? This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career ecologist to develop their technical skills, gain hands‑on field experience, and work alongside experienced professionals on a diverse range of projects. This role is a Fixed Term Contract of 12 Months wit potential to be extended, there are a range of exciting projects to work on with a supportive and driven team. We help customers across the UK to turn turning their ambitions on nature recovery into a reality, by guiding them towards on the best nature-positive changes for their landscapes, and then delivering those changes.
As part of your role, you will deliver of ecological surveys, assessments, and biodiversity projects for clients across a variety of sectors. You will be involved in field surveys, data collection, and report preparation, helping to deliver high quality ecological solutions while contributing to nature recovery and sustainable development.
Main Duties
- Assisting with a range of ecological surveys, including habitat, botanical, protected species, and monitoring surveys
- Recording and managing ecological data accurately using field recording systems and GIS tools
- Preparing ecological reports, management plans, and other technical documentation
- Assisting with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and habitat condition surveys
- Undertaking ecological desk studies and reviewing environmental data
- Completing Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) tasks
- Working alongside project managers and senior ecologists to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Building positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
- A degree in Environmental Science, Conservation, or a related discipline
- A genuine passion for ecology and the natural environment
- Knowledge of UK habitats, species, and environmental legislation
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Flexibility for travel around the UK
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
