Better places, thriving communities.
Location: Barnard Castle
Shift: 40 Hours (may need to be flexible due to 24 hour site operations)
At Mitie, our people are our greatest strength, and our promise is to create a place to work where you can thrive and be your best every day. We're looking for a Workplace Standards Lead to provide a visible, hands‑on presence across a complex operational site, driving consistently high standards of GxP and non‑GxP cleaning presentation.
You will complete daily audits and live assessments, work directly with operational teams to resolve issues in real time, and provide clear assurance that agreed standards are being achieved and sustained.
Role Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong daily presence across the site, completing workplace inspections and audits to assess cleanliness, presentation and delivery against agreed standards.
- Lead live cleaning assessments, provide clear and constructive feedback, and work with operational teams and supervisors to ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Monitor findings, recurring themes and repeat issues, maintaining accurate records and escalating persistent deficiencies or significant service concerns appropriately.
- Build effective relationships with GSK and Mitie stakeholders, supporting operational meetings, joint inspections, workplace reviews and the closure of agreed actions.
- Drive practical continuous improvement while considering the cleaning specification, contractual scope, cost, resources and the sustainability of proposed solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Experience within cleaning, facilities management, workplace services or a similar operational environment, with a practical understanding of professional cleaning standards and workplace presentation.
- Experience completing inspections, audits, live assessments or quality checks, with the confidence to identify deficiencies and drive corrective actions through to completion.
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to cleaning operations, including COSHH; knowledge of GxP and non‑GxP environments would be advantageous.
- Strong observational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the confidence to challenge standards constructively and provide clear, factual feedback.
- Commercial and contractual awareness, including the ability to recognise service scope, resource implications and requests that may fall outside contracted activity.
- A proactive, organised and hands‑on approach, with the ability to work independently, manage changing priorities and remain highly visible across a large operational site.
What's in it for you?
- A visible role where you can directly influence service quality, workplace standards and the customer experience.
- The opportunity to work closely with operational teams and key stakeholders in a complex, high‑profile environment.
- A role with genuine scope to embed lasting improvements and share best practice across the wider service.
