Role Overview

As a Systems Design Engineer at Mitie, you will be responsible for the design, costing, and proposal development of complex integrated life safety and electronic security systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design detailed integration security system designs and cost estimates based on client requirements.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations and tender documents.
• Review client specifications, drawings and site conditions to ensure compliance with standards.
• Collaborate closely with sales teams, clients, consultants, suppliers and contractors.
• Conduct site surveys and attend client meetings across the UK as needed.
• Ensure all designs comply with Mitie\’s quality, health & safety, and regulatory policies.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in fire and security systems engineering/design.
• Strong knowledge of technical and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency in CAD software and design tools.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with ISO9001, SSQS101, FSQS121 quality systems.
• Strong problem‑solving and time‑management abilities.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience in goal‑driven, results‑oriented environments.
• Familiarity with System Surveyor design software.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies in security and life safety systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
