Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Manager
A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our IT team as a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Manager, on an initial 12 month FTC. This is a hybrid role with a mixture of working from our Birmingham head office, occasional visit to sites and some working from home.
In this role we are seeking a technically astute and operationally driven professional to lead the development, rehearsal, and assurance of our enterprise-wide Disaster Recovery capability. This is a hands-on role that will shape how we prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptive events, whether cyber, technical, or operational.

What youâll be doing in the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery roleâŚ
- Developing, maintaining, and testing business continuity and disaster recovery plans specific to our pubs and restaurants and our business offices and functions.
- Conducting risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities in our supply chain, IT systems, and physical locations.
- Coordinating with various departments, to ensure all critical functions are included in the business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Developing and enforcing business continuity policies and procedures.
- Providing training and awareness to all staff, including frontline employees, on disaster recovery procedures and emergency protocols.
- Leading the response during and after a disaster, ensuring the quick resumption of critical operational processes and systems
- Leading stakeholders in identifying relevant RTO and RPO for each process and system our business relies on.
- Collaborating with departments to conduct business impact analyses, identifying critical processes and systems that must be prioritised during disruptions.
- Identifying critical processes in our central operations and front-line businesses and ensure we have secondary processes identified and understood by all relevant staff including. Put plans in place to regularly test effectiveness.
- Ensuring continuity processes enable us to trade in a manner thatâs safe, effective, and legal
- Working closely with our IT Vendors to ensure we have adequate and relevant Disaster Recovery plans in place that are regularly tested for assurance.
- Working closely with our IT Security team and Security partners to ensure we have recovery plans and playbooks in place for common Cyber Security incident scenarios
- Creating owns and manages a Disaster Recovery register providing a holistic view of the current state of DR for all services.
What do I need bring to the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery role?
- Proven experience in disaster recovery and business continuity within a complex, multi-vendor environment.
- Experience planning and running DR rehearsals, including scenario design, facilitation, and post-exercise reviews.
- Strong technical understanding of infrastructure, cloud platforms (especially Azure), and enterprise applications.
- Experience working with Retail or Hospitality businesses.
- Ability to identify critical business processes and understand the potential impact of disruptions.
- Expertise in conducting detailed risk assessments, crucial for developing successful business continuity programs and disaster recovery plans.
- Competence in managing disruptive and unexpected events that threaten the organisation or its stakeholders.
- Ability to comprehend and address current issues while also forecasting future challenges.
- Proficiency in understanding complex issues and conceptualising solutions.
- Aptitude for analysing information objectively and making reasoned judgments.
- Familiarity with the organisational and physical structures necessary for smooth operations.
- Skilled in initiating, planning, executing, and controlling projects to achieve specific goals and success criteria.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team/project group.
- Strong relationship management skills with proven ability to influence, guide and escalate where appropriate.
- Excellent report writing skills for senior management and Exec audiences.
- Well organised with a strong attention to detail.
The following qualificationâs would be beneficial:
- A relevant degree such as Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Emergency Information Technology.
- A relevant certification such as CBCI (Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute), MBCP (Master Business Continuity Professional) or (MBCI) Member of the Business Continuity Institute.
