We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Solar Development Manager to join our Award Winning Property Team. In this 2 year fixed term role you will be accountable for the successful delivery of the annual M&B Solar PV rollout on a nationwide basis. The drivers of this programme are that it will be delivered safely and to the approved budget, always adhering to the correct quality and capacity, and finally on time to the agreed programme. In this mobile role, you will be required to travel on a nationwide basis, and you will report directly to our Director of Building and Kitchen Development.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Regulatory
- Throughout all processes associated with the Solar development plan; ensure all appropriate legal and statutory permissions are secured prior to executing any development work.
- Direct and control health, safety and welfare matters associated with the Solar installation programme to ensure the safety always of consultants, contractors, suppliers, MAB Team members and MAB Guests.
- Management and Delivery
- Work with appointed external consultants and contractors, in developing the annual Solar capital expenditure budget and programme.
- Personally assess and advise on the need for ancillary works e.g. roof structure, scaffold, tree works, etc. which add to template project cost, with site visit/survey as necessary.
- Ensure projects are briefed in line with agreed timeline and prepare documentation to the agreed standard for presentation to MAB Group Property Director.
- Provide data on installations to Property Cost and Finance teams and Sustainability Finance Manager.
- In conjunction with the Head of Procurement/Building Services, ensure that all aspects of the contract with the Solar installation Companies are adhered to and support any initiatives for improvement.
- Manage and lead with direct line management responsibility the external consultants, suppliers and contractors in ensuring that they adhere to company and department processes.
- In conjunction with the Director of Building and Kitchen Development secure approval for Solar schemes, being circa 150 per annum in line with the company requirements.
- Manage the delivery of Solar Investment Plan within budget, to the correct quality and capacity, and within programme for the Group.
- Work to ensure all projects are delivered to time and are defect free. Where problems are anticipated ensure that these are communicated to relevant parties in a timely manner.
- In support of the company initiative to reduce capital costs actively always seek cost reduction within all areas of activity and ensure compliance.
- Tender the consultant and contractor services annually and ensure that any procurement activity is in line with Company, Function and Departmental strategies.
- Ensure the successful delivery of the Solar projects post start on site through to handover and closedown.
- Always ensure the accuracy of the Solar Development Event Schedule, cost reporting and forecasting.
- Deliver an Integrated Plan to ensure cohesion between the Solar Programme and any planned Capital Projects.
- Review and seek best practice for monitoring of performance of Solar at site level and seek best practise via MAB Energy Team.
- Ensure a Communication Plan is updated for the Operational Teams with regards to programme and installation dates in conjunction with MAB Marketing, Local and Central Communication Teams.
- Ensure a pipeline of sites identified for Solar investment to support M&Bs Sustainability/Net Zero programme.
- Cost Management
- Manage the overall annual Solar Capital Budget of @ £7m with Property Cost and Finance Team, Director of Capital Planning and Sustainability Finance Manager.
- Ensure that any costs variations to budget are accurately forecast to enable efficient cost management and any additional approvals obtained prior to commencement of work.
- Ensure orders are raised and receipted in a timely manner.
- Ensure invoices are paid in line with contract terms and that variations are correctly documented and accounted for.
- Personally audit by site survey at least 20% of completed projects to ensure accuracy of the installed KWP; and that payment is made in accordance with the contract, including any variations.
- Maintenance
- Define planned and reactive maintenance requirements. Develop an appropriate maintenance strategy liaising with key stakeholders.
- Find, engage and on-board reactive maintenance contractors to support the solar requirements.
- Oversee and monitor on a regular basis consumption data as received at site level and ensure proactive management of solar output of forecast v actual.
- Use the Management Information to determine solar installations that are under performing, using the maintenance contractors seek to resolve issue to keep the solar installation performing at an optimal level.
- Key relationships and development
- Consult and involve with other associated Functions as required, including Finance, and the Company Sustainability team.
