We’re looking for a commercially astute and strategically driven Director of Estate Strategy to lead the long-term planning and optimisation of our property portfolio. This is a high-impact role at the heart of Mitchells & Butlers’ growth strategy, shaping the future of our estate across acquisitions, divestments, and capital investment.
You’ll report to the Group Property Director and work closely with senior leaders across Property, Finance, Strategy, and our brand teams to deliver a robust and forward-thinking estate plan.
About the Role
This is a pivotal leadership position with broad scope and influence. You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading the development and delivery of a 5–7 year estate strategy
- Driving investment and divestment programmes across the M&B portfolio
- Supporting brand growth through site acquisition and location strategy
- Monitoring market trends and competitor activity to inform estate planning
- Overseeing the development and use of a Location Planning System
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Capital Planning, Finance, and Building Development
- Leading estate reviews, capital planning, and multi-site acquisition assessments
What We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for a senior property strategist with deep experience in estate planning and asset management within a large, complex organisation—ideally in the retail or leisure sector.
You’ll bring:
- At least 10 years’ experience in a major PLC with strong commercial and analytical involvement
- A proven track record in estate strategy, investment planning, and market analysis
- Strong financial literacy and commercial acumen
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels
